From September 29 to October 1, the seventh DemHack online hackathon will be held, organized by the Roskomsvoboda and Privacy Accelerator projects. This was reported on the website of the organizers.

“Censors are trying to close access to information as much as possible, to protect people from any point of view other than the official one, to block all channels through which reliable information can be obtained. For people, this becomes a daily challenge, because they have to think not only about how and where to access information, but also how to do it safely,” write DemHack representatives.

In 2023, the key topic of the hackathon will be privacy and security on the Internet. Potential participants are invited, in particular, to solve the following tasks:

  • creation of convenient OS-solutions for a smart home without access to data from corporations;
  • development of tools for checking texts for authenticity, bias, manipulation;
  • countering bots and cheating;
  • availability of VPN in the regions of the Russian Federation;
  • website design about political prisoners.
