Interior Ministry will check Netflix for LGBT propaganda

The Ministry of Internal Affairs will check the streaming service of films and TV series Netflix for violations of the law on the promotion of unconventional sexual relations among minors after activist Olga Baranets contacted the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This was reported on Wednesday, November 24, by Vedomosti.

“I believe that the actions of the Netflix service, expressed in the demonstration for minors of films and TV series, in which the main characters are representatives of the LGBT community, contain signs of an administrative offense under Part 2 of Art. 6.21 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, ”says Baranets in the text of the complaint.

The activist complained about the TV series Elite, Sexual Education, What If, Young Monarchs and others.

Netflix could face a fine of up to one million rubles or a suspension of activities for up to three months if the Interior Ministry agrees with Baranets.

On November 17, the Basmanny Court of Moscow fined Muz-TV channel 1 million rubles for promoting non-traditional sexual relations among minors.

On June 8, Roskomnadzor announced that it would check Muz-TV for homosexual propaganda. The department recalled that information promoting non-traditional sexual relations can be disseminated on television only after 23:00 and when marked “18+”.

The organizers of the show have set the limit “6+”. At the same time, some male artists appeared at the ceremony in women’s outfits, and the singers Philip Kirkorov and Dava appeared before the public in a convertible in wedding dress coats, accompanied by half-naked men.
