The introduction of the digital ruble will help entrepreneurs significantly save on the acquiring commission charged by banks. Izvestia writes about this with reference to the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Sergei Katyrin.

According to the Bank of Russia, the commission for merchants for accepting payments in digital rubles will not exceed 0.3%, while acquiring rates for businesses reach 2.5%.

“Thus, we are talking about millions of savings on transactions for Russian entrepreneurs. In this regard, the new form is likely to quickly gain popularity in business circles,” the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry explained.

At the same time, in order to adapt payments using a new financial instrument, businesses will have to reconsider their structure with an emphasis on full digitalization.

“Digital currency settlements have the highest degree of transparency, that is, it will become easier to track transactions. And this, in turn, should further stimulate the whitewashing of business in the country,” Katyrin added.

Earlier, Russian analysts reported that the introduction CBDC could hit banks and benefit retailers. They estimated the probable annual losses of financial institutions at 50 billion rubles.

Recall that on July 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the introduction of the digital ruble and the creation of an appropriate electronic platform.

The law secures the status of a CBDC platform operator for the Bank of Russia.
