In Moscow, about 50 thousand people came to a rally in support of the referenda

In Moscow, about 50 thousand people came to the rally “We do not abandon our own” on Manezhnaya Square, organized in support of referendums in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. This was reported by the press service of the capital’s Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Earlier that day, Izvestia talked to the participants of the rally, who spoke about their attitude towards the ongoing referendums. It was noted that many people with Russian flags gathered on the square.

The referendum on joining Russia began on Friday in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Voting will continue for five days, until September 27th.

The All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion stated that 97% of the residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics who plan to take part in the referendum will vote for the republics to join Russia.

In the Zaporozhye region, 87% of residents support the decision to join the Russian Federation, in the Kherson region – 89%.

As representatives of the republics and regions have repeatedly stated, they have been waiting for this moment for eight years. In their opinion, this decision is extremely necessary in the context of constant terrorist attacks by Ukraine and NATO members that supply weapons to Kyiv. In addition, they perceive joining Russia not only as a guarantee of security, but also as a restoration of historical justice.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, in turn, during an address to the Russians on September 21, said that he would support the decision to be made by the residents of Donbass, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. He added that Russia will do everything to ensure safe conditions for their holding.

Since February 24, Russia has been conducting a special operation to protect Donbass. Its key goals are the denazification and demilitarization of the Kyiv regime. Moscow emphasized that with the help of a special operation, Russia was stopping the war that Kyiv had waged for eight years against the civilian population of the republics. It was also noted that strikes are carried out only on military infrastructure.
