In Kamchatka, about 20 warships and boats in Avacha Bay, including the new corvette “Thundering”, opened the celebration of the Navy Day. This was reported by the press service of the Eastern Military District for the Pacific Fleet on Sunday, July 31.

“The ships will be involved in demonstrations and perform various combat exercises. More than 15 vehicles and armored vehicles will be displayed on the central square of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky during the day,” the press service of the military department told TASS.

As noted, demonstration performances will be held by intelligence units, marines and a combined orchestra of troops and forces in the North-East.

In addition, all guests of the holiday in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky will have a concert and a children’s game program, and fireworks will start at 22:00 (13:00 Moscow time).

On Sunday, July 31, Russian President Vladimir Putin will host the Main Naval Parade in St. Petersburg and Kronstadt. Before that, the head of state will sign decrees approving the Naval Doctrine and the Ship Charter of the Navy.

Earlier, on July 28, a dress rehearsal of the main naval parade took place in the waters of the Neva. Dozens of warships, boats and submarines passed along the river. It is known that this year, for the first time in the history of the parade, a special patrol boat with an all-female crew will participate.

Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu on Sunday, July 31, congratulated the military and veterans on the Day of the Navy. He noted that the Russians are proud of the heroic history of the Navy, outstanding Russian naval commanders and navigators – all those who fought in the name of the fatherland in different eras and made important geographical discoveries.

In 2021, the parade was held without spectators due to the spread of the coronavirus infection. In 2020, parades in honor of the Day of the Russian Navy were held at seven main bases of the country. 250 ships and about 15,000 servicemen took part in the celebrations.
