There is a special category of people who are bitten by mosquitoes more often than others. This was told by a general practitioner, immunologist, allergist Irina Yartseva in an interview with Sputnik radio.
Mosquitoes do not have preferences related to blood type or body size, Yartseva noted. But the thickness of the skin is an important indicator.
“Mosquitoes turn on, as it were, a“ thermal imager ”- they see infrared radiation, fly to the heat of vessels, blood,” the therapist explained, emphasizing that those who have deeply located vessels or a thick layer of subcutaneous fatty tissue will bite a little less often.
It is believed that mosquitoes prefer people who are intoxicated as victims. “There is no specific connection that if you drink, then mosquitoes will definitely bite you,” the specialist noted.
The consequences of bites in people with different skin types also differ. It should be borne in mind that on the ankles, wrists, in the neck and face, bites will be most noticeable. If you scratch the bite site, then this is fraught with the formation of bumps. To avoid this, you should apply cold to the affected area of the skin, anoint it with a cooling cream or an anti-itch agent.
