High-tech companies in the US have resorted to massive layoffs of workers to cut costs

A difficult macroeconomic environment and a downturn in the online advertising market have forced American technology companies to resort to massive layoffs.

Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Meta* (recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned) previously announced the largest layoff of employees. Entrepreneur Elon Musk spoke about the reduction in staff twice after buying Twitter. Also, large cuts have affected the employees of the online taxi service Uber.

Experts suggest that one of the main reasons for such measures is fierce competition in the online advertising market. In addition, managers are resorting to this measure against the backdrop of high inflation and an increase in the key rate, Kommersant reports.
