The deputy head of the Ministry of the Environment of Baden-W├╝rttemberg, Andre Baumann, suggested that the Germans become “garbage detectives” and spy on their neighbors.

As Bauman explained in an interview with the DPA agency, Germans need to sort their garbage more carefully, since biogas can be produced from food waste.

“Natural gas is produced from a banana peel, and then we need less Putin’s gas,” Bauman said.

According to the official, he himself looks into garbage cans from time to time, and also becomes “more specific” in relation to those living in the neighborhood.

Bauman cites research showing that two-thirds of waste is recycled or organic. According to Bauman, the recycling of organic waste makes a “huge contribution” to the energy transition, writes RIA Novosti.

“This is our gold – residual waste,” the deputy minister emphasized.

Bauman is confident that with an appropriate approach, it is possible to increase the number of people in the country who receive electricity and heat from biogas from 230,000 to 400,000.
