Four-time Formula 1 champion Vettel to retire

Four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel will retire at the end of the season. This was announced on July 28 by his Aston Martin team.

“Over the past 15 years I have had the privilege of working with many great people in Formula 1 – too many to be mentioned and thanked. I have been driving an Aston Martin Aramco for the past two years and although our results have not been as good as we had hoped, it is clear to me that everything is moving towards the fact that the team will compete at the highest level for many years to come, ”said the German racing driver .

Vettel’s contract with Aston Martin is valid until the end of 2022, reports Sport-Express. On July 17, team leader Mike Krak announced his desire to extend the agreement with the 35-year-old athlete.

Vettel is one of five drivers who have won four Formula 1 championship titles. He won the overall standings from 2010 to 2013. He also holds the third-most individual Grand Prix wins in a career (53) and the record for most races won in a season (13).

This season, Vettel is 14th in the overall Formula 1 classification with 15 points. There are ten stages left until the end of the season.
