Economist Milovidov: EU threatens to collapse due to growing contradictions over Russia

The sanctions policy of the West towards Russia leads to an increase in contradictions within the European Union, which threaten to break up the bloc, Vladimir Milovidov, deputy director of the National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He recalled that the EU is already preparing the ninth package of anti-Russian restrictions, but disagreements between members of the Commonwealth over sanctions are becoming more noticeable.

“These disagreements are so serious that in the future they can lead not just to global, but to revolutionary changes,” Milovidov warned.

The economist suggested two scenarios. According to the first, the European Union will simply fall apart. According to another scenario, each European country will completely lose financial sovereignty, since a single budget will be created in the European Union.
