Anatoly Aksakov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, expressed his opinion on the reasons for the weakening of the ruble

In an interview with Sputnik radio, he recalled that at the end of last year, the largest companies were actively selling foreign currency on the market to calculate tax payments, so it fell in price. Now the tax payments have ended, so the ruble has fallen slightly. This is a market situation, the deputy stressed.

The official dollar exchange rate, which is set by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, is now about 10 rubles higher than it was in November – the first half of December, and slightly lower than it was fixed at the end of December.
