The Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory, Mikhail Degtyarev, announced a more powerful growth in the cargo turnover of the ports of the Khabarovsk Territory in comparison with the indicators of neighboring Primorye.
– The cargo turnover of the ports of the Khabarovsk Territory in two years will overtake the cargo turnover of the ports of the Primorsky Territory. Millions of tons of wagons, – said Degtyarev in an interview with RIA Novosti at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The governor stressed that few people know about the potential of the Khabarovsk Territory.
– Recently I talked with one of the investors, for him it was a discovery, a revelation, even I would say enlightenment, he even got into Wikipedia, he could not believe that 620 thousand people live in Khabarovsk, and 590 in Vladivostok. And the population in Vladivostok falls, and in Khabarovsk grows. That is, you can imagine what clichés and PR, – the agency quotes Degtyarev’s words.
According to a study by the REC “Maritime Transport and Spatial Logistics” of the Nevelskoy Maritime State University and the company “DNIIMF-Vostochny”, the cargo turnover of the ports of the Khabarovsk Territory in 2021 amounted to 47.98 million tons (plus 0.2 percent compared to 2020), Primorye – 142.28 million tons (plus 2.8 percent). In general, cargo transshipment at the sea gates of the district increased by only half a percentage point last year – the lowest figure in the last ten years (almost two percent in Russia).
