Cosmetics expert lists ways to combat pigmentation

Pigmentation can be provoked by cosmetic procedures, improperly selected care and aggressive peels. On Thursday, August 4, Elena Bolotskaya, the author of the cosmetic lines of the MeiTan brand, told Gazeta.Ru.

According to the expert, when the production of melanin is disturbed, age spots appear in the skin.

External causes include the sun’s rays, some aggressive cosmetic procedures (such as peels), as well as mechanical injuries (such as acne).

“Internal causes of hyperpigmentation are hormonal imbalances (for example, elevated estrogen levels or low cortisol levels), as well as various diseases of the internal organs, taking certain medications, and even beriberi,” the expert explained.

She also noted that some modern methods that offer to get rid of pigmentation themselves can provoke a skin reaction in the form of additional age spots.

Bolotskaya recommended treating cosmetic products against pigmentation with caution. According to her, in many of these products, the active ingredient is acids.

“At a high concentration of acids, cosmetics are dangerous for use in sunny weather, because they can provoke even more pigmentation, and at a lower concentration, they are simply ineffective as a pacifier,” she noted.

According to Bolotskaya, a real result without harm to the skin can be achieved if several rules are followed: exclusion of internal causes of pigmentation; cleansing the skin with a special tool in the morning and evening; non-aggressive peeling once or twice a week; Finish your daily skin care routine with a depigmenting cream and apply SPF 50 before sun exposure.

On July 24, dietitian Anjali Mukherjee talked about the main causes of skin aging. According to the specialist, smoking and long-term alcohol consumption can provoke the appearance of wrinkles and flabbiness of the skin.

Mukherjee also said that constant stressful situations can negatively affect the body, leading to the development of psoriasis, eczema and rosacea.
