Charge d’Affaires in Lithuania: Moscow urges Vilnius to “stop games” on transit to Kaliningrad

MOSCOW, 15 Aug – Moscow calls on Vilnius to stop playing games on Kaliningrad transit and behave “like an adult”, declared Charge d’Affaires of the Russian Federation in Lithuania Sergei Ryabokon, commenting on the situation around Siauliai Bank.

“Of course, we urge them then and now to behave like an adult. Not to engage in different ideas,” Ryabokon said on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

“Let’s hope that everyone will come to their senses and that they will be given another suggestion, where they expect such suggestions from and carry them out, and then everything will fall into place. At least there is such an expectation, we can hope for it,” he added.

The Lithuanian Siauliai Bank, through which payments for Kaliningrad transit passed, will stop operations with Russia in rubles from August 15, and payments in all other currencies will be stopped on September 1, said Valeria Kiguolene, a representative of the Association of Lithuanian Banks. Earlier, the bank announced the termination of operations with Russia from September 1.
