Borrell is unhappy that Lavrov is more popular in the Western media

The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, complained that he was less popular in the Western press than Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is going to Africa to try to convince Africans that European sanctions are the reason for everything that is happening. And the entire Western press repeats this. I’m going to Africa to say the opposite, that sanctions have nothing to do with it. And no one picks it up,” complained the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, in an interview with Cadena SER radio station.

In Europe, there has been a tendency to “listen to the enemy,” Borrell said and called for intensifying the fight against the spread of “false” reports by the Russian media.

On March 2, the European Union banned the distribution of the signal and content of Russian Russia Today English, Russia Today UK, Russia Today Germany, Russia Today France, Russia Today Spanish, and Sputnik.

The EU also suspended broadcasting on its territory of the TV channels Rossiya RTR/RTR Planeta, Rossiya 24 and TV Center International.

The situation with the Russian media in the West continues to deteriorate. Thus, in November 2016, the European Parliament adopted a resolution on the need to counter the Russian media, the main threats in the document are Sputnik and RT.

Western politicians, including the President of France, accused Sputnik and RT of interfering in the elections in the US and France, but did not provide any evidence. Russia called such statements unfounded.
