In Europe, there has been a tendency to “listen to the enemy,” Borrell said and called for intensifying the fight against the spread of “false” reports by the Russian media.
On March 2, the European Union banned the distribution of the signal and content of Russian Russia Today English, Russia Today UK, Russia Today Germany, Russia Today France, Russia Today Spanish, and Sputnik.
The EU also suspended broadcasting on its territory of the TV channels Rossiya RTR/RTR Planeta, Rossiya 24 and TV Center International.
The situation with the Russian media in the West continues to deteriorate. Thus, in November 2016, the European Parliament adopted a resolution on the need to counter the Russian media, the main threats in the document are Sputnik and RT.
Western politicians, including the President of France, accused Sputnik and RT of interfering in the elections in the US and France, but did not provide any evidence. Russia called such statements unfounded.
