The Ministry of Finance of Belarus today, June 2, received the second tranche of the state loan from Russia. The total loan amount is $ 1 billion, the first tranche of $ 500 million was received by Minsk in December 2020.
The press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Finance announced the receipt of the second tranche of $ 500 million. The press release specifies that the money was provided in accordance with an agreement between the governments of Belarus and the Russian Federation, concluded on December 21, 2020.
The allocation of the second tranche of the loan to Belarus was discussed at the talks between Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko. They were held in Sochi on May 28, the next day an informal meeting of the heads of state took place. Russia and Belarus agreed on a $ 1.5 billion loan in September 2020. $ 1 billion of them is an interstate loan, another $ 500 is from the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development.
