Armed Forces of Ukraine planned to strike “Tochka-U” on the administration of Lugansk

The Tochka-U missile shot down over Teplichny was aimed at the administration building of the head of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR). This was announced on Friday, June 24, by Lieutenant Colonel of the People’s Militia of the LPR Andrey Marochko.

He stressed that the Ukrainian military-political leadership had given the order to strike “Tochka-U” in Luhansk.

“Thanks to the well-coordinated air defense actions, the missile was shot down on approach in the area of the Teplichnoye settlement. Based on the flight path and calculated data, the target was the Administration of the Head of the Luhansk People’s Republic,” Marochko wrote in his Telegram channel.

Earlier that day, the LPR office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire (JCCC) reported that on the night of June 24, the Ukrainian military fired Tochka-U missiles at the city of Stakhanov, as well as the villages of Bryanka and Teplichnoye.

On June 21, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) fired a Tochka-U missile at the village of Torez in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). The impact damaged administrative buildings, a school and other infrastructure facilities.

On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass. Moscow explained that the tasks of the special operation include the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, the implementation of which is necessary to ensure the security of Russia. The decision was made against the backdrop of aggravation in the region as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military.
