Startup Anthropic announced that it has raised $450 million in Series C. Key investors include Spark Capital, Google, Salesforce Ventures, Zoom Ventures, and others.
The funds will be used to create “useful, harmless and honest artificial intelligence systems.” Among them is the Claude chatbot, which performs a wide range of word processing tasks.
As a result of the round, Spark Capital General Partner Yasmin Razavi will join the board of directors of Anthropic.
The firm is currently developing new features for Claude, such as expanding the context window to 100,000 tokens. This will allow the chatbot to process entire books.
Anthropic was founded by former OpenAI employees Daniela Amodei and Dario Amodei in 2021. They were among those who left the company due to internal disagreements, including cooperation with Microsoft.
According to Crunchbase, Anthropic has raised $1.4 billion in its two years of existence, making it the second largest AI startup in terms of fundraising. In first place is OpenAI with $11.3 billion.
PitchBook has valued the startup at $4 billion.
Recall that in February, the media reported that Google invested $ 300 million in Anthropic.
In March, the company presented the Claude chat bot, which should compete with ChatGPT.
In May, the startup unveiled “constitutions” for the responsible creation of AI algorithms.
