The Kaliningrad region foresaw the consequences of anti-Russian sanctions, so a ferry was launched on the Ust-Luga-Baltiysk route. This was stated by the governor of the region Anton Alikhanov.

In addition, according to him, one dry cargo ship runs on the line. This was done to redistribute goods that were banned from transit by EU countries.

“We were preparing for such nasty things from our neighbors, we have built and put into operation a new ferry. In order to redistribute the goods prohibited for transit, we may need additional ships, we calculated the maximum volume is seven additional ships by the end of the year,” Alikhanov wrote in his Telegram channel.

Earlier, Lithuania restricted the transportation of certain goods via the Kaliningrad railway. Alikhanov called these actions illegal.
