Beer contains such useful substances as phosphorus, iron, magnesium, and hops in the composition of the drink can inhibit the growth and reproduction of many pathogenic bacteria. Nutritionist Vadim Kornovoy told Izvestia about this on International Beer Day, August 5.

“No doctor will recommend drinking alcohol. But, here, as with wine, in small quantities you can. A good drink that was made in compliance with all requirements and norms, 300 g of beer per week can have a beneficial effect on the body. Hops can inhibit the growth and reproduction of many pathogenic bacteria. In addition, the drink contains a lot of phosphorus, iron, magnesium, copper, potassium and zinc,” the expert said.

At the same time, he noted that beer is a diuretic drink, so the body can lose many trace elements due to the washing out process.

“Excessive consumption of the drink destroys the joints, increases anxiety, the level of aggression, like any alcohol. In any case, the rule works here – everything is good in moderation, ”summed up Kornovoy

The holiday dedicated to the popular drink began to be celebrated around the world in 2012. Beer Day falls on the first Friday of August: in 2022, August 5 became a holiday date. On this holiday, it is customary to glorify the work of people associated with the production of a foamy drink, as well as to gather in a circle of close friends. Beer fans organize themed parties and events, and tastings are held in bars and breweries.

Earlier, on August 2, dietitian Sergey Oblozhko spoke about the harm that beer can have for men. As the doctor noted, the words that if drinking beer in small quantities is healthy are just myths, since the drink is a source of a large amount of liquid and extra calories. Both can be hazardous to health, the expert noted.
