According to the source, in early April, he came to Kherson to his mother and brother from the village where he lived with his father. When the Russian special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass began, he subscribed to one of the Telegram channels, in which everyone could report on the deployment of the Russian military in the Kherson region.
On one of the days of his stay in Kherson, Tikunov saw how the Russian military was distributing humanitarian aid to civilians. The man filmed it and sent it to this Telegram channel, after which he went back to the village.
After some time, an unknown woman got in touch with Tikunov, who asked to send his similar videos only to her. He agreed and removed several more checkpoints where the Russian military was distributing humanitarian aid. The man also said that he filmed the daily life of Kherson, even just walking locals in the parks. Tikunov admitted that he had filmed not only the military and equipment, but also buildings on which Russian flags were installed.

After Tikunov was detained by Russian security forces, the true identity of the woman was established, to whom the man sent all the information about the Russian troops. The woman is Valeria Maslova, who once served in the Ukrainian 11th Kherson Army Aviation Brigade. From there, she was transferred to the position of operator of the center of information and psychological operations of the special operations forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which processes information received from local residents living in the territory controlled by the Russian Federation. For the information she received, she transferred money to Tikunov.
Tikunov himself previously served in the Ukrainian battalion “Donbass”. In addition to photo and video equipment, during the search, a drone was found on him for “spotting the coordinates of points of temporary deployment of the Russian military.”
On July 21, a group of saboteurs who were preparing a series of terrorist attacks and attacks on civilian objects was detained in Kherson. As the investigation established, the saboteurs planned to shoot down the point of issue of humanitarian aid, shops and set fire to the passport office.
