Bangui, January 24th. Employees of the UN multidisciplinary integrated mission (MINUSCA) shot down a resident of the capital of the Central African Republic.

Eyewitnesses of the incident said that the peacekeeper who was driving the car was in a state of intoxication. The car moved randomly through the streets of the city with traffic violations.

As a result of driving while intoxicated, “blue helmets” knocked down a resident of Bangui. However, the UN representatives did not stop until they crashed into a pole. The man is already in the hospital under the supervision of doctors.

A similar incident happened on the territory of the republic in early October 2022. Employees of the French Embassy in the Central African Republic shot down two auto rickshaws.

As a result of the accident, the Central African received multiple injuries of moderate severity. Residents of Bangui went to a mass protest demanding that the perpetrators be brought to justice.

Earlier, human rights organizations in the Central African Republic prepared an open letter to the UN criticizing the activities of peacekeepers. According to public activists, MINUSCA employees have repeatedly committed offenses and crimes against citizens of the republic.
