Gazprom gives out almost a record lot of money

Gazprom shareholders will receive almost record dividends in the amount of 15.24 rubles per share, after which their significant reduction or even a pause in payments is possible. Such a decision was made at the absentee annual meeting, Interfax reports.

In total, the company will distribute 360.784 billion rubles, of which the state and its controlled structures, Rosneftegaz and Rosgazification, will receive half the money.

Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov noted that the company’s management suggested the idea to spend quite a lot of money on dividends and supported the board of directors. He called important the fact that the current decision was made against the backdrop of a complex and uncertain situation in the energy markets.

The list of payees will be compiled according to the register as of July 16. Nominee holders and professional participants will receive them until July 30, and the remaining shareholders – until August 20.

Gazprom paid record dividends in 2018 – 16.61 rubles per share. However, now such a high size is set against the background of serious problems of the corporation with revenues.

In the first quarter of 2020, when the impact of the coronavirus pandemic was not yet fully manifested, Gazprom received a loss of 306 billion rubles. This is the first time in the company’s history when the first three months of the year did not bring profit.

This situation is associated with an abnormally warm winter, overcrowding of storage facilities, competition from liquefied natural gas (LNG) and, as a result, a sharp drop in prices.

The Russian export monopolist is losing market share for its key market and is also faced with a refusal to supply them once largest buyers.

Another problem for Gazprom was the situation with the Power of Siberia gas pipeline, which, as the investigation showed, is experiencing serious problems with the resource base.

In order to prevent the contract from China from being broken, the company will have to spend hundreds of billions of rubles.

Earlier it became known that, despite all the problems, the income of the management of Gazprom increased. (Source: rambler)
