UAC is working on the development of cargo versions of the SSJ 100 and MS-21

The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec) is working on the creation of cargo versions of passenger aircraft SSJ 100 and MS-21, said at the MAKS-2021 airshow the director of the Regional Aircraft branch of Irkut Corporation PJSC (part of UAC) Oleg Gulyaev.

“We are currently working on conceptual solutions for the production of a cargo version (Sukhoi Superjet – “B”). And this issue is being considered not only in relation to the Sukhoi Superjet, but also in relation to the MC-21, ”said Mr. Gulyaev (quoted by Interfax).

According to him, when making a final decision on the basis of business plans and business models that the company presents to the shareholder, the development, release of documentation and certification of this aircraft will take place within two years. At the same time, Mr. Gulyaev did not specify the timing of the creation of the MS-21 cargo aircraft.

Among those interested in such aircraft, he named the Russian Post, as well as private operators focused on Internet trade.

The International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2021 is being held in Zhukovsk, near Moscow, from 20 to 25 July. Russian President Vladimir Putin visited him today. Within the framework of the salon, the head of state was shown a new Russian fighter – the Checkmate light tactical single-engine aircraft (LTS) developed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau, as well as other samples of aviation technology.
