Deputy Prime Minister and Plenipotentiary of the President of Russia in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev asked the Ministry of Natural Resources to check the work of Rosgeologia. The holding, according to Mr Trutnev, may put pressure on the private exploration market. Earlier, he complained that Rosgeologia, in particular, disrupted the timing of the gasification of Kamchatka.
The Deputy Prime Minister again voiced claims against the holding at a meeting on the efficiency of using minerals and conducting geological exploration in Yakutia. The meeting was also attended by the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources Alexander Kozlov. Mr. Trutnev asked the minister to “take a closer look at the work” of Rosgeologia. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, “this is not very good”, when a company that receives “significant government funding” “in fact presses the market”.
“I have a feeling that she (Rosgeologia .— “B”) has become such a separate subject of law, which not only fulfills the tasks facing the state, but generally begins to work as a joint-stock company, ”said Yuri Trutnev (quoted by TASS).
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, it is necessary to create conditions for the development of private companies, so that their investments in geological exploration increase the cost of subsoil, which would help improve the country’s economy. “This requires some changes in the legislation for this to work. I ask you to look at all these issues, adjust them so that the maximum amount of investments comes to the geological exploration market, ”asked Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Kozlov.
Rosgeologia told TASS that the holding “consistently supports the development of the junior business in exploration and is one of the active participants in this process.”
Rosgeologia is a Russian diversified geological holding. 100% of shares of JSC Rosgeologia are owned by the state. The holding is engaged, in particular, in monitoring the state of the subsoil and parametric drilling. More than 1,000 deposits have been discovered by Rosgeologia’s enterprises.
In April, Yuri Trutnev said that geological exploration and the search for additional gas reserves are poorly conducted in Kamchatka. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, Rosgeologia annually disrupts the terms of work for three years. He asked the Ministry of Natural Resources to analyze the company’s activities and take “appropriate measures in relation to its management.”
