The Ministry of Industry and Trade has developed a draft government decree on subsidies to the Russian Post when working with marketplaces where sellers send Russian goods abroad. The subsidy is planned to be issued subject to the provision of discounts to sellers of up to 50%, indicated in the draft published on the portal of regulatory legal acts. The press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade told TASS that the subsidy amount will be transferred to marketplaces in the form of a discount on services.
“Electronic trading platforms will be able to count on receiving a discount on tariffs for international postage of products manufactured in the Russian Federation, up to 50% of the original tariff,” the ministry’s press service reported to TASS. The decree is scheduled to be signed in 2021.
To receive a discount, marketplaces will have to similarly reduce the price of their services to the product seller. The Ministry of Industry and Trade explained that it intends in this way to support Russian producers in foreign markets within the framework of the federal project “Industrial Export”.
The decision to make Russian Post the operator for distributing subsidies to Russian exporters selling goods through marketplaces was approved in February, Kommersant previously reported.
