Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree on the allocation of more than 85 billion rubles. to support health systems in the regions. The money will go, in particular, to cover the costs of medical insurance, the press service of the government said.

This funding will help the regions to timely admit patients with various diseases in conditions of increased workload amid the coronavirus pandemic, as well as to focus additional resources on countering COVID-19, the press release said. The Ministry of Health was instructed to conclude all the necessary agreements with the constituent entities of the Russian Federation within 30 days and monitor the efficiency of spending.

In July, Mr. Mishustin ordered to increase the rate of vaccination against coronavirus. He also said that the number of people wishing to be vaccinated in the country has almost doubled recently. The Ministry of Health said last week that the situation with COVID-19 remains tense.
