Restaurants in Moscow will regain momentum in August, Alexander Kalinin, President of Opora Rossii, told TASS. Earlier, the mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin said that from Monday, July 19, the city will cancel the system of mandatory QR codes for restaurants and cafes.
“In August they will regain momentum, I am sure. It’s just the effect of a “compressed spring” – people miss the restaurants, for communication, a lot of tourists come to Moscow, “said Mr. Kalinin. According to him, the restoration of turnover of restaurants next month will be possible while maintaining the current pace of vaccination against coronavirus.
The QR code system for visiting cafes, restaurants and public events has been operating in Moscow since June 28. The code can be obtained for people who have been vaccinated against coronavirus, who have had COVID-19 no more than six months ago, or who have provided a negative PCR test result valid for three days. Moscow restaurateurs reported a drop of up to 90% of revenue from the first day of the QR code system. At the same time, the demand for the delivery of corporate meals, ready-made rations and cookery has grown.
