The Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Education and Science (Rosobrnadzor) considers a complete rejection of certification in the format of the Unified State Examination (USE) unjustified. In addition to the proven effectiveness of the mechanism for selecting applicants to universities, the system has a high motivational potential, the department said on September 23.
“We consider a complete rejection of the GIA in the form of the Unified State Exam unreasonable due to the fact that this can lead to a decrease in the quality of education, since uniform approaches and procedures organized at the federal level motivate schoolchildren to study,” RIA Novosti told the press -service of Rosobrnadzor.
In July, the head of the department, Anton Muzaev, said that the abolition of the USE was not discussed, since such a proposal was “about nothing.” But officials are ready to make changes “on the topic of the day” in the procedure for conducting the exam. To do this, they should be sent constructive suggestions and criticism, which they will bring up for discussion, he said.
On May 13, the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science Maxim Zaitsev expressed the opinion that Russia will cancel the Unified State Exam and return to the “traditional format.” However, as the MP suggested, the process of leaving this system can take a lot of time.
