Putin suggested thinking about holding another FIFA World Cup in Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with the leaders of the parties that passed to the State Duma on Saturday, September 25, invited them to think about the possibility of holding another World Cup in Russia.

“We once held the World Cup, held it at the highest level. Let’s think, maybe we will hold another world championship, ”the head of state said.

Putin also recalled Russia’s victory in the Futsal World Cup this year and expressed the hope that this high status would be confirmed.

On September 22, the head of the International Football Federation FIFA Gianni Infantino noted that Russia is a great football power.

He added that he believes in the capabilities of the Russian football team.

The FIFA World Cup was held in Russia in 2018. The victory was won by the French team. Russia reached the quarter-finals, losing to the Croatian team in a penalty shootout.

Currently, the Russian national football team is preparing for the qualifying matches of the 2022 World Cup. On October 8, the Russians will play with a team from Slovakia, and on October 11, with the Slovenian national team.
