Putin: Russia will expand investments in areas to improve people’s lives

Russia intends to increase investments in projects in the field of high technologies, healthcare, the development of the urban environment and other areas that determine the quality of life of people, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with the heads of major foreign companies at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). For this, Russia opens up broad opportunities for profitable capital investment, the President noted. The meeting took place via videoconference.

“Moreover, in the coming years we intend to significantly increase investments in the development of transport, telecommunications, tourism infrastructure, in projects in the field of high technologies, healthcare, the development of the urban environment, and other areas that determine the quality of life of people. And here Russia opens up broad opportunities for private initiative and profitable investment of capital, ”said Mr Putin. One of the tasks set by the state is for the investor to choose exactly Russian sites for the implementation of his business plans, the president said.

Earlier at the SPIEF, Vladimir Putin said that the strategic goal of the development of the Russian economy is to attract private investment, but this does not mean that the authorities will rush to privatize state assets.
