Russian airlines in May increased their traffic 9.2 times, up to 8.78 million passengers, compared to May last year, follows from the data of the Federal Air Transport Agency. Aeroflot retained the first place in terms of transportation among Russian airlines.
“According to operational data, in May, Russian carriers served 8.78 million passengers, passenger turnover amounted to 17.8 billion passenger-kilometers,” according to the website of the Federal Air Transport Agency.
The leader in terms of air traffic in May was Aeroflot (1.61 million passengers), followed by Siberia – 1.54 million, Pobeda – 1.24 million, Ural Airlines – 761 thousand, Russia – 742 thousand. In total, in January-May, about 33 million passengers were transported, which is 32% more than in the same period in 2020. Passenger traffic amounted to 67 billion passenger-kilometers.
According to the National Rating Agency, the main Russian airlines this year may increase their revenues by a quarter, but in general they will remain operationally unprofitable. At the same time, the passenger traffic, depending on the lifting of restrictions on international flights, may grow to 85-87 million people from 69 million in 2020.
