The Ministry of Agriculture believes that the prices of basic products this season will remain at the current level, and then will decline. Earlier, Rosstat reported a weekly rise in prices for carrots and potatoes by 10.2% and 7%, respectively.
“The ministry expects a stable level of prices for basic goods until the beginning of the new season, after which they are expected to decline further,” the ministry said in a TASS report. The agency notes that, as of June 16, average wholesale prices in most monitored categories fell over the week.
Contrary to the Rosstat report, the Ministry of Agriculture declares stable prices for carrots and potatoes. According to him, their prices have not changed or have shown insignificant growth (from 0.1% to 0.6%).
The Central Bank expects a decrease in annual inflation in the country in the fourth quarter. Deputy Chairman of the regulator Alexei Zabotkin said that inflation will be “on a plateau” until autumn. On June 15, in order to combat rising prices, the Central Bank raised the key rate in Russia to 5.5% per annum.
