Russia should have a “full arsenal” of influence on foreign digital companies to prevent attempts to interfere, said Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Security Council and chairman of United Russia. In an interview with RT, Mr Medvedev commented on the alleged attempts of foreign interference in the elections to the State Duma in September, he believes. In particular, Roskomnadzor demanded that Google and Apple remove Alexei Navalny’s Smart Voting application; the companies eventually complied with this requirement on the first day of voting, September 17.
