Since the beginning of the year, the cost of living in Russia has grown by 2.2 percent, RIA Novosti reports.
On average, in the country it is 10 843 rubles per person. For the able-bodied population – 11 731 rubles, for pensioners – 8944 rubles, for children – 10 721 rubles. This indicator is used to assess the standard of living in the country, as well as to develop federal and social programs.
In February, a resident of St. Petersburg complained to President Vladimir Putin that it was very difficult to live on the cost of living established by the state. According to her, this money cannot buy products. In response to a question on how to live on 10,800 rubles a month, the president replied: “I think it’s very difficult.”
At the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Labor advocated lowering the cost of living for the fourth quarter of 2019. This was explained by the fact that the products used in the calculation of this indicator fell in price. The Federation Council indicated that there will be no lowering.
