FAS proposed to increase the freight rates of Russian Railways

The head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) Maxim Shaskolsky sent to First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov, together with a draft report to President Vladimir Putin, a proposal to change the formula for calculating the indexation of Russian Railways tariffs for cargo transportation in terms of average inflation. This was reported by RBC with reference to a copy of the document. Sources of the publication said that the FAS proposal was returned for revision. The service will have to finalize the proposal for a freight tariff, as well as consider the possibility of increasing the cost of transporting coal, metals and fertilizers. In the first half of 2021, freight transportation and provision of access to infrastructure brought Russian Railways 813.6 billion rubles. with revenue of 1.24 trillion rubles.
