Retail company Auchan will change the concept of its hypermarkets in Russia. This was stated in an interview with the Vedomosti newspaper by the president of Auchan Retail Russia Philip Brochard. According to him, part of the retail space will be leased out for shops to third parties.
To date, a corner of the French clothing brand Kiabi operates in the Aviapark shopping center in Auchan. It is planned to open a department for the sale of Japanese dishes in the store located in the Capitol mall. Who will become its operator, Mr. Brochard did not specify.
In addition, part of the territory of Auchan hypermarkets will be used for darkstores (small warehouses). In them, the company’s employees will collect orders both for their own delivery and for partners – Sbermarket and Yandex.Edy.
The president of the company is convinced that the change in concept will improve the efficiency of using retail space in Russian hypermarkets. However, he did not specify how much they will decline. At the same time, Mr. Brochard noted that the decision for each store will be made individually.
Earlier in an interview with Reuters, Philip Brochard said that Auchan would spend more than 20 billion rubles in Russia. on the development of online sales. These funds will go to its own technology platform and strategic partnerships. The company intends to increase the share of online business in Russian revenue to 20%.
