An emergency power outage occurred at the Iranian nuclear power plant “Bushehr”

An emergency power outage occurred at the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran, AP reports citing Iranian state television. The shutdown is expected to last three to four days. There may be power outages in the country due to renovations.

The Bushehr NPP was created jointly with Russia. Its construction began back in 1975. In 1995, a contract was signed between Zarubezhatomenergostroy and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran for the completion of the first unit. In 2011, it was connected to the network, and the official transfer took place in 2013. Russia supplies Iran with nuclear fuel for the operation of the reactor.
