Air France and Austrian Airlines began flying to Moscow bypassing Belarus

The French airline Air France has resumed flights from Paris to Moscow. Earlier, she canceled three such flights due to the fact that Russia did not provide her with a new air corridor. Let us remind you that this was necessary because of the order of the European authorities to fly over Belarus after the scandal with the landing of the Ryanair plane in Minsk. The Austrian company Austrian Airlines also received permission to fly to Moscow bypassing Belarus.

A TASS source said that today, May 29, for the first time in three days, an Air France plane flew to Moscow from the Paris Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport.

“We have received permission to carry out today’s flight on an alternative route. Thus, we can make the scheduled flight from Vienna to Moscow and back. Everything is in order, ”an Austrian Airlines spokeswoman told the agency. She added that a plane is already on its way, moving from Austria to China in transit through Russian territory. “After we have succeeded now, we are confident that we will receive permission for further such flights,” she said.

On May 23, a Ryanair plane was landed in the capital of Belarus with ex-editor-in-chief of the Nexta Telegram channel Roman Protasevich on board, who was immediately detained. The Belarusian authorities called the threat of a terrorist attack on board the reason for the landing. The EU countries criticized the actions of Minsk and called for the closure of the airspace and airports for Belarus. Flights over Belarus were suspended by Air France, Finnair, Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa and AirBaltic.
