After the opening of Terminal C, Aeroflot intends to transfer all international flights to it, a spokesman for the airport said. They are currently served in Terminal D. The opening of Terminal C is scheduled for July.
“The exact schedule of flights transferred to Terminal C will be formed and published later,” said Sheremetyevo representative Anna Zakharenkova to RBK. Sources of the publication said that the carrier is planning a gradual transfer of flights to the new terminal. The interlocutor of the publication explains Aeroflot’s decision by the fact that Terminal C is more modern and productive.
Terminal C was opened in January 2020. Its capacity is 20 million passengers per year. The operation of the terminal was suspended during the pandemic due to the decline in air traffic. Domestic flights of Aeroflot operate through Terminal B.
Russian airlines in May increased their traffic 9.2 times, to 8.78 million passengers, compared to May last year. According to the National Rating Agency, the main Russian airlines this year may increase their revenues by a quarter, but in general they will remain operationally unprofitable.
